Dadaocheng, Dalongdong

Both Dadaocheng and Dalongdong are two incredibly historic neighbourhoods within the incredibly old Datong district. Teamed together with what is known as the Wanhua district they form what is called the Old Taipei, a part of the city which was originally inhabited by Fujianese settlers back in the very early 18th century. If you are looking to discover the beautiful temples, Dadaocheng is famous for them and let’s not forget to mention the very long Dihua Street, which is known for being one of Taipei’s oldest streets. The street typically comes alive during festivals such as the annual Spring Festival.

Ximending

Ximending is an incredible shopping district that is just perfect for younger travellers. Ximending is also incredibly popular with local residents, especially students who prefer to hang around the market during their free time. If you are planning on taking gifts or souvenirs home, Ximending is the perfect place, and let’s not forget the bountiful amounts of designer clothes stores. When visiting Ximending you will no doubt encounter fantastic street shows and even interesting presentations which always promise to draw in a huge crowd.

Giant pandas at the Taipei Zoo

No trip to Taipei is complete without visiting the largest zoo in Asia, the Taipei Zoo. Not only is it full of fantastic wildlife such as koalas, kangaroos, and a whole host of African wildlife, they also house and breed pandas. At the zoo, you will encounter a variety of unusual and fun activities to see and do. It’s a perfect attraction for the whole family.

Maokong Gondola

Maokong Gondola is situated in the Wenshan district of the city and often draws in many tourists who are mad about tea. Maokong Gondola is the home to an abundance of tea shops and charming street stalls that provide visitors with a taste of traditional Chinese food and tea. In order to reach Maokong, you will need to prepare yourself to ride the gondola which is located beside the Taipei Zoo. It’s highly recommended to visit Maokong during the night as the views across the city with the twinkling of the lights is incredibly memorable.

Taipei 101

Taipei 101 is considered as one of the world’s tallest buildings which makes it a must-see site when visiting Taipei. The building itself features 101 floors above ground and even an additional 5 floors underground.

Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall Park

The Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall Park was originally constructed in the memory of Chiang Kai-shek, the former Taiwan president. The memorial is considered a must see for any visitor and is an exceptionally famous monument and landmark in Taipei.

National Palace Museum

No visit to Taipei would be complete without a trip to the National Palace Museum. The museum is home to a wealth of Chinese historical artifacts.
